In need of a brand design update, Escalon (a division of HJ Heinz) approached The
Alchemedia Project mid-2006 to help execute a site design update. A key feature of
the site, handled then by a 3rd party shopping cart system, was online product orders.
A large number of smaller, independent restaurant operators who use only Escalon products
in their menu weren't able to purchase product through regular distribution. This meant
the site needed a simple, easy-to-use commerce component that got customers the product
they needed.
